The Differences Between the Koran & the Bible

How the Koran Contradicts the
Word of God: The Bible

If the Koran were truly a book spoken by God to a true prophet of God, Muhammad, and if God were truly infallible, inerrant, and unchanging… why then do we find such contradictions in the Koran?

There are many doctrines found in the Koran that directly contradict what God has given us in His Word.  We cannot list them all, but some of the more obvious points are as follows:

1) Islam rejects the doctrine of imputation (that is that sin has been imputed to, or imparted to all mankind through Adam)

Muslims believe that people are born free of sin. It is only after they reach the age of puberty and it is only after they commit sins that they are to be charged for their mistakes. No one is responsible for or can take the responsibility for the sins of others.

But God tells us in His Word, the Bible, that sin has been imputed to all mankind through Adam…

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

This Islam belief also denies the doctrine that Jesus Christ Himself became sin Himself at the Cross of Calvary…

2Corrinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

This Islam belief also denies the gospel of Christ itself by denying that the righteousness of God is imputed to men when they believe the Gospel, that is, believers possess the righteousness of God when they are saved…

Romans 5:15-19
Romans 5:19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

2) Salvation is a reward for relative righteousness

Salvation is a reward for a life of relative piety and righteousness. The Koran states, “Then those whose scales are heavy, they are successful. And those whose scales are light are those who lose their souls, in hell abiding” (Sura, 23:102, 103)

And (Sura, 3:133) vie one with another for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who ward off (evil)

But the Word of God, the Bible, teaches that we are saved and assured entrance into Heaven not by works, but of grace, through being born again by believing on Jesus Christ…

John  3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

And God shows us how to be born again…

Nicodemus asked Jesus exactly HOW to be born again…

John 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

And Jesus answered…

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Also:

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

3) Islam claims that Jesus is not God

This belief is so important to Islam that it was printed in bold type in the leaflet “Prophethood in Islam”: “The Quranic account of Jesus emphatically rejects the concept of his ‘Divinity’ and ‘Divine Sonship….’” Furthermore, the Institute of Islamic Information and Education publishes a leaflet entitled “Is Jesus Really God?” In it they totally reject the biblical teaching that Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. In Aziz’s book Introduction to Islam, he clearly says Islam “rejects the Christian doctrine that God is unable to forgive sins unless He punishes someone, and so He sent His ‘son’ to suffer the punishment for the sins of all humanity. Moreover, a son is needed to take the place of the father when the father dies, and clearly this cannot apply if God is perfect.” He then adds, “Islam refutes the idea that any human being, however great, was a ‘manifestation’ of God on earth, or a Divine incarnate” (Aziz 9).

But God teaches us that Jesus is God…

1Timothy 3:16 tells us that “God was manifest in the flesh”

John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,” …

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

John 8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

4) War, and destruction of enemies

(Surah 4:103-) Seek out your enemies relentlessly.

(Surah 2:216) Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it.

(Surah 8:12-) Believers, when you encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your backs to them in flight. If anyone on that day turns his back to them,
except it be for tactical reasons…he shall incur the wrath of God and
Hell shall be his home…

(Surah 9:12-) “…make war on the leaders of unbelief…Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory
over them…”

(Surah 9:27-) Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]…until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued.

(Surah 9:73) Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal
rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home

But the Word of God, the Bible, teaches us…

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Proverbs 24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth

Proverbs 25:21  If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink

Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

It is the child of God’s responsibility to forgive his enemies and show forth the love of Jesus Christ.  Islam takes away God’s authority to rule with justness…

Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

The children of God are called not to avenge or war against others. Judgment belongs to God. But the child of God is called to be …

Galations 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

God clearly speaks against warring against our enemies. To be longsuffering is to tolerate our enemies… it is to suffer inwardly for a long period of time, praying and hoping that they will repent and be saved. This is the very message which God brought to us through His Son, Jesus Christ…

2Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Dear reader, here we have a very serious confliction between what God has spoken and what Muhammad has spoken. Do the above verses of the Word of God line up with Muhammad’s Koran when Muhammad tells us “make war on the leaders of unbelief…Make war on them…”

Herein have been only a few major contradictions.  If God is God, and if God is infallible, inerrant, and unchanging, we must either discount the false prophet Muhammad and look toward God, or we must accept the single writing of Muhammad and discount the entire Bible.  But the problem for Islam is that the Bible proves itself to be the divinely inspired written Word of God.

Question? – But, how can we know the Bible is Real?  How can we know the Bible is from God?

Answer – God proves He is the writer of the Bible through Prophecy and showing us that was able to tell us future events thousands of years before they happened.
